- Professor YUEN Kwok-yung delivers a keynote speech at the seminar to share with the industry on how property management may make properties safer and more hygienic
- Mobile App “PMSA” is launched to facilitate property management practitioner licensees to manage their Continuing Professional Development activity participation records
The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) held a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar today at the 2nd International Property Management and Procurement Expo (Expo) and invited specialist in infectious diseases and Chair of Infectious Diseases of the Department of Microbiology of the University of Hong Kong Professor YUEN Kwok-yung to make a keynote speech at the PM Pioneer Awards Ceremony, sharing with the property management (PM) industry on how PM may make properties safer and more hygenic, thus preventing virus from spreading.
The PMSA also launched today the Mobile App “PMSA” to facilitate property management practitioner (PMP) licensees to plan and manage their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities anytime.
Around 1,000 participants attended the seminar in person or online, of which most were from the PM industry. All PMP licensees who participated in the seminar would earn two recognised CPD participation hours under the PMSA’s CPD Scheme and would be awarded an electronic certificate of participation by the PMSA.
Chairperson of the PMSA Tony TSE said, “On behalf of the PMSA, I wish to express our gratitude to Professor YUEN Kwok-yung for accepting our invitation to deliver the keynote speech and sharing with the PM industry his invaluable experiences in carrying out inspection at various types of properties including private residential buildings, public housing, shopping malls, restaurants etc., to examine the cause of viral spreading during the COVID-19 epidemic, and addressing how PM may make properties safer and more hygienic, thus preventing virus from spreading.”
Chairperson TSE added, “To drive the continuous developement of the entire PM industry, the PMSA has launched a series of complementary measures under the licensing regime, including the CPD Scheme for participation on voluntary basis which encourages PMPs to enhance their knowledge and skills. The PMSA will continue to organise CPD activities of various themes for PMPs to participate based on their interests and needs so that they can advance with times.”
To facilitate licensed PMPs to check and manage their CPD activities or courses, the PMSA has specially launched the CPD Scheme Electronic Recording System and its related mobile app “PMSA” so that licensees may search and apply online for CPD activities or courses organised by the PMSA anytime, and confirm attendance instantly during the activity by scanning the designated QR code. The system will also provide information on individual learning progress through simple chart so that licensees may keep track of their CPD progress and find out if relevant CPD criteria are met.
The CPD activity held by the PMSA at the Expo today consisted of two parts. The first part was the PMSA PM Pioneer Awards Ceremony whereby over 100 property management companies which have taken the lead to be licensed were presented the PM Pioneer Awards by the PMSA to commend their active support for the PM industry licensing regime and driving by action the development of the PM industry in Hong Kong towards enhanced quality and professionalism. The second part was the keynote speech delivered to the industry by Professor YUEN Kwok-yung.
The PMSA launched the CPD Scheme early this year to encourage PMP licensees to participate voluntarily in CPD activities or courses organised or recognised by the PMSA during the transitional period of the licensing regime (up to July 31, 2023). These activities or courses are diverse in topics and formats and PM practitioners may choose to participate based on their interests and needs. As of 31 August 2022, over 100 activities or courses organised by PMSA Recognised Professional Bodies have been recognised under the Scheme. The PMSA will continue to work with industry bodies, relevant Government departments and public organisations to organise various PM-related seminars and activities so as to offer industry practitioners more opportunities for continuous education.
