The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) conducted exchanges with the delegation of the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality today on the operation of the property management (PM) industry, and co-operation and integration of the industry within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Chairperson of the PMSA Dr James WONG said, “The official announcement of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2019, President Xi ‘s important speech in Hong Kong on 1 July last year and the report to the 20th National Congress in particular, together foster the further development of the GBA which supports Hong Kong’s active integration into the national development. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao together have established the Guangdong Property and Facilities Management Association of the Greater Bay Area to actively promote exchanges and co-operation among the PM industry in the GBA. The PM market in Shenzhen is fast-growing and the visit of the delegation of the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality to Hong Kong today has demonstrated and strengthened the co-operation and integration of the PM industry within the GBA.”
Staff of the Home Affairs Department also attended the meeting representing the Hong Kong SAR Government in support of the exchanges and co-operation between the PM industry of Hong Kong and Shenzhen. In addition to meeting with the PMSA, the delegation’s trip to Hong Kong also covers visit to various types of properties to study the PM services and facilities and the PM market development in Hong Kong, as well as conducting meetings with local industry bodies.
The PMSA explained in the exchange to the delegation its work on implementing the Property Management Services Ordinance (Cap. 626). Chairperson Wong added, “The PMSA encourages the PM industry in Hong Kong to seize the opportunities brought by the GBA development to expand its roles and unparalleled edges in order to develop new positioning, thereby driving the PM industry in the GBA towards enhanced quality and professionalism, so that residents of all cities in the GBA may enjoy professional and quality Hong Kong-style PM services.”
The PMSA, the statutory body established and tasked to regulate the provision of property management services by companies and practitioners in Hong Kong and to promote professional development of the local PM industry, aims to encourage and assist the PM industry and its practitioners to strive for enhancement in professionalism and quality through formulating and implementing a licensing regulatory regime and other complementary measures in order to raise the professional standard of PM services.
The exchange meeting today was arranged by the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch.
