Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) announced today that there has been over 6,800 applications received for the “Anti-epidemic Support Scheme for Property Management Sector” (ASPM) commissioned by the HKSAR Government, of which over 1,100 applications have been approved, involving subsidies of close to HK$40 million and benefiting over 11,600 building blocks, which account for more than 30% of the private residential and composite buildings in Hong Kong as of 14 April 2020.
PMSA will be commissioned again by the Home Affairs Department to implement the second phase of the ASPM, with the scope extended to cover industrial and commercial buildings. To allow property management companies and owners’ organisations more time to prepare for their applications while reducing social contact, the deadline for both phases of the scheme will be extended to 31 May 2020.
The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr LAU Kong-wah paid a visit to the PMSA Executive Office yesterday (14 April 2020), to show support to staff members of the PMSA. He expressed his gratitude for the teams’ dedicated work during the anti-epidemic period, as well as their relentless efforts to implement the ASPM so as to speed up the handling of applications.
Mr Tony TSE, the PMSA Chairperson said, “I would like to thank the HKSAR Government for accepting the industry’s opinion on extending the scope of ASPM to cover a wider range of properties. By adopting a ‘liberal rather than stringent’ approach, the application deadline is extended so that more frontline property management workers can be benefited from the scheme. In order to shorten the vetting process, more resources have been deployed by the PMSA. Furthermore, we are well prepared for the second phase of ASPM, in the hope that all approval procedures to be completed and subsidies be disbursed within June.”
Details on the application for the second phase of ASPM will be announced on the ASPM webpage in due course.
