The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) held a Property Management Practitioner (PMP) licence presentation ceremony at its office today where the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson of the PMSA, Mr Tony TSE and Professor Eddie HUI Chi-man, together with PMSA Members witnessed and presented the first batch of formal and provisional PMP (Tier 1) and PMP (Tier 2) licences under the property management licensing regime to eligible PMPs.
Chairperson TSE said, “The issue of the first batch of 25 licences for PMPs turns a new page for the development of the property management (PM) industry in Hong Kong. I hereby appeal to property management companies (PMCs) and PMPs that they should apply for licence as soon as possible and join hands with the PMSA to enhance the quality and professionalism of the industry so as to provide the public with high quality and professional PM services.”
At the presentation, most of the licensed PMPs opined that the licence application process was simple; and the approval procedure was fast and efficient. Those who successfully applied for provisional PMP licences expressed that they had planned to attend the PMSA Specified Courses and then apply for a formal PMP licence.
As of yesterday, 19 August, over 700 bookings for PMC and PMP licence application had been received since the licensing regime was launched on 1 August 2020, and documents of more than 300 applications had already been submitted, reflecting the industry’s support for the licensing regime.
The purpose of the licensing regime is to encourage and assist the PM industry and its practitioners to strive for enhancement in quality and professionalism through formulating and implementing a licensing regime and related complementary measures that suit the situation in Hong Kong.
Under the licensing regime, there are “Property Management Company Licence” and “Property Management Practitioner Licence”. To allow the industry sufficient time to adapt, there is a three-year transitional period after the licensing regime has come into operation. During the transitional period, PMCs and PMPs may choose, but are not required to apply for licence.
PMCs and PMPs can make appointment and submit licence application via the PMSA’s website. Please visit the PMSA’s website below for more information on the licensing regime and the arrangements for licence application.
